W+K, MJZ Lead AICP Shortlist

Well, call us shocked yet again. The AICP Show unveiled its 2011 Shortlist and leading the pack is MJZ with 40 nominations on the prodco and Wieden + Kennedy with 31 nods on the agency side. Yes, Old Spice “Questions” of course made the grade in both the Production and Humor categories, but plenty of other W+K efforts were on the list including the agency’s collaboration with Aardman on the “world’s smallest stop-motion character” project for Nokia in Animation.

Other agencies that received multiple mentions include BBDO New York and Chicago with a combined 18 and TBWA\Chiat\Day New York and LA with 17. Brian Carmody, chairman of the 2011 AICPs, says, “This might be one of the strongest shows in a long time. It’s deep, varied and brave. The Shortlist exemplifies what is best about our industry and that ‘concept’ has risen to the top once more.” You can check out the complete list here (PDF).
