United Nations Releases ‘My Life as a Refugee’ App

We’ve all read the stories about refugees from the ongoing wars in Africa and Asia, but have you ever wondered what it was like to live the experience? The UN wants you to do just that.

They’ve released a new app called My Life as a Refugee. Some might call it a game, but I think that’s a tad insulting to anyone who’s lived through similar experiences. In this app users are forced to make minute to minute decisions, some of which will have life or death consequences for their character. Here’s more from the description:

Based on real-life experiences of families torn apart by conflict or persecution

Every minute 8 people are forced to flee war, persecution or terror. If conflict threatened your family, what would you do?

Players face a series of tough decisions and chance events in these true-to-life quests to try to reach safety, reunite with loved ones and rebuild their lives. The game features three stories whose characters who are separated from their families while fleeing persecution or armed conflict.

This app is available now for Android, and it’s coming soon for iOS.
