QUE eReader Delayed, Pre-Orders Halted

Shipment of Plastic Logic’s highly anticipated (and highly-priced) QUE proReader touchscreen eReader has been delayed from mid-April to some time this summer, according to Engadget, which cites an email sent by Plastic Logic to a pre-order customer, stating the company planned to use the extra time to “fine-tune the features and enhance the overall product experience.”

Then the same blog noticed that pre-order for the reader had been halted, as you can see on the QUE catalog page, which states that “Pre-orders are sold out. QUE will be available online and in select Barnes & Noble stores this summer.”

Ok. Either this is smart or incredibly stupid planning. Why would you pay $799 for an 8GB QUE when you could get, say, a 16GB iPad for $300 less? Maybe between now and sometime this summer Plastic Logic can make the QUE kick some new kind of butt? More on that when some time comes around.
