What's the name of your cell phone ring? "Profiles (Normal)" -- a first for me.

What time did you get up this morning? I work for Jim VandeHei -- early. We try to post "Politico Playbook," our guide to what's driving the day, by 7 or so.

When did you last cry and why? I'm lucky that most of my tears are happy. But it was tough to hear the coverage of "Pomp and Circumstance" at Tech this year. And Joseph Anzackk, father of one of the missing soldiers, on "Today": "It just made me realize how much unfinished business that we have."

How many emails do you receive a day, roughly? I always send and get one too few. There's someone who would have appreciated being reached out to, and there's somebody who should have sent me something they didn't!

What's your favorite letter? Anything from Paul, but let's go with Philippians.

What single person played the biggest role / had the biggest influence on your journalism career?
