Allbritton Communications announced today that The Politico, the company's new multimedia political journalism venture, has formed a relationship with Washington's 24-hour news radio station, WTOP.

Starting on January 22nd, listeners in D.C, Maryland and Virginia will hear members of The Politico staff discussing the latest political news Mondays through Thursdays at 5:20 p.m., a timeslot previously occupied by The Hill newspaper.

"WTOP's audience contains Washington's key decision makers and the most politically informed citizens. Jim Farley, Vice President of News and Programming for WTOP, said this is a logical and exciting extension of the close editorial alliance WTOP has with ABC7 and News Channel 8. "Now, Washington's most-listened-to radio station will provide listeners with the latest and most interesting news from the worlds of politics and power."

The Politico is launching a newspaper, to be published three days a week, and a corresponding website, www.politico.com, on January 23, 2007 under the direction of former Washington Post political editor and best-selling author, John Harris, and Jim VandeHei, former national political reporter for The Washington Post. They have recruited a team of top reporters, including Mike Allen of Time Magazine, Roger Simon of Bloomberg News, Anne Schroeder of Capitol File, and John Bresnahan of Roll Call.

WTOP Radio can be heard on 103.5 FM and 820 AM. It is one of four stations in the Washington area owned by Bonneville International Corporation.
