What word do you routinely misspell? Embarrass. I always leave out an "r".

What's the name of your cell phone ring? The theme from "I Dream of Jeannie". I know. It's really lame, but I liked the show when I was a kid, especially that cute Major Nelson.

What time did you get up this morning? 8:45am. I get to sleep in since I work evenings.

When did you last cry and why? August 11th at the funeral for former Belo reporter Stacy Hutchins, a dear friend who died of breast cancer.

How many emails do you receive a day, roughly? Real ones, probably 40 to 50. The other 40 to 50 are spam emails with bad stock tips and offers for products I don't need.

What's your favorite letter? The one I recently received telling me I've been accepted for a program at the Aspen Institute.

What single person played the biggest role / had the biggest influence on your journalism career? It's hard to pick just one person because so many people have helped me. Al Tompkins of the Poynter Institute has been a huge influence. He mentored me when I started out in television. Others who've influenced me include veteran Kentucky political journalists Al Cross and Al Smith, columnist Merlene Davis and retired Western Kentucky University Sports Information Director Paul Just, who gave me my first writing job.

When's the last time you volunteered? Where? Back in May, I delivered meals for IONA Senior Services in DC.

Who is your favorite active journalist? Again, it's really hard to pick just one. Newsweek International Editor Fareed Zakaria, NPR Investigative Correspondent Daniel Zwerdling, and the Washington Post columnist Colbert King are three of my favorites. There are others.

What did you have for breakfast? Mandarin orange slices and cottage cheese

What one toiletry item could you not live without? I can't think of one toiletry item I couldn't live without.

If you could have one superpower, which one would it be? Mind reading -- that way I can know what you're thinking.

Red or white wine? It depends on the food being served with it, although it's hard to beat a good Chardonnay.

PG-13 or R? Is there really that much of a difference these days?

Lincoln, Jefferson or Washington Memorial? Lincoln

Leg or breast (chicken, of course) Huh?

Friday night or Saturday night? Saturday night, since I work on Friday night.

"Wedding Crashers" or "Old School" I didn't see either movie.

Yankees or Red Sox? The Nats. You've gotta root for the home team.

Jenna or Barbara? I haven't met either one, but I'd love to interview both of them should they ever decide to talk to the media.

McSteamy or McDreamy? They're both hot, although I'm really not a Grey's Anatomy fan. Wait, is that going to get me in trouble since ABC7 (NewsChannel 8's sister station) airs the show?
