Fishy FCC Affairs?
The AP reports today that "The Federal Communications Commission ordered its staff to destroy all copies of a draft study that suggested greater concentration of media ownership would hurt local TV news coverage, a former lawyer at the agency says." Adam Candeub, now a law professor at Michigan State, said senior managers at the FCC ordered that "every last piece" of this report be destroyed. Yes -- this report.
FCC Chairman Kevin Martin said he was not aware of the existence of the report, nor was his staff.
Really? The FCC Chairman was unaware of an FCC report? Consumers Union, who sent us the report, thinks something fishy is going on here and launched a campaign to stop FCC cover-ups.
