"I do think that the quality which makes a man want to write and be read is essentially a desire for self-exposure and is masochistic. Like one of those guys who has a compulsion to take his thing out and show it on the street." - James Jones

Adam_MSNBC.JPEG
Good morning, Washington. Above, Adam Verdugo makes his television debut.

Got a blind item, interesting link, funny note, comment, birthday, anniversary or anything of the sort for Morning Reading List? Drop us a line or let us know in the tips box below.

We've got your morning mix of media Muesli after the jump...

Joe Lockhart and Anne Schroeder Mullins both had birthdays yesterday. Slate's John Dickerson tweets: "Am in CNN control room waiting for next shot. Thousands of buttons before me, yet I control nothing. This is not not a metaphor. Really." Congrats to Fox News' Molly Henneberg, who got married over the weekend. Reliable Sources reports on the marriage of "ESPN's Tony Reali, 30, to Samiya Edwards, also 30, in Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands, on July 3. Catholic church ceremony; small reception on the beach; groom sang with the band to his bride's dismay, he tells us. The D.C.-based host of ESPN's 'Around the Horn' courted Edwards, an Africa policy consultant, for six years.'" Congrats to Jeremy Gaines! What journo says "after weeks of rain and no sun, putting the 'blanca' back in Casa Blanca"?Jay Rosen tweets: "Ryan Lizza, who wrote the piece on Obama in the magazine, is thought by some to be the Chris Paul of political journalism." Friday, most of you would rather have been playing outside or boozing, but certainly not in work. Today's "Angry Journalist" rant of the day: "A PR person just contacted me with information for the July issue of my magazine. It's the 10th of July. The mag came out on the 30th of last month. When I told her sure, no problem, I'll grab a marker pen and write it in ten thousand copies or so she told me I was not including her information due to a personal bias. Correct, I'm biased against idiots. Honestly, where do they get these people?" Check out today's White House Photo of the Day from Time.
