Good morning Washington.

Got a blind item, interesting link, funny note, comment, birthday, anniversary or anything of the sort for Morning Reading List? Drop us a line or let us know in the tips box below.

We've got your morning mix of media Muesli after the jump...

Journo birthdays today: Alana Russo, David Folkenflik, Ashley Parker, Don Irvine. Tomorrow: Sara Goo. Elsewhere: Prince Harry is 24, Oliver Stone is 62, Hans-Gert Poettering is 63 and, 45 years ago today, four black girls were killed in a bombing at a Baptist church in Birmingham, Alabama. You think McCain had a better week last week than Obama. The WaPo reviews Bob Woodward's book with nary a scratch. Check out Twitter updates from last week's Online News Association in Washington, D.C. Mike Allen's Playbook...now in video! Mo Rocca tell us, "How to talk about Sarah Palin without Killing each other!" Tony Snow's last briefing was a year ago last Friday. C-SPAN Radio turned 11 last week and The Hotline is now officially old enough to drink. Check out today's White House Photo of the Day from Time. Today's "Angry Journalist" rant of the day: "Any reporter who calls another newspaper for the phone number of a principal is lazy and an idiot -- duh!!!"

    NEWS NOTES

  • Matthew Yglesias writes, "...the big question isn't about whether the press writes some good individual stories. The big question is about whether the press creates a narrative. John McCain keeps saying things that aren't true. So does his running mate. So do his campaign ads. So do his surrogates on television. When does that become a narrative? When do we get stories about how the McCain campaign has been 'dogged by questions about its honesty?'"

  • The Daniel Pearl World Music Days, inspired by the life of journalist and musician Daniel Pearl, will be held from October 1-31. These inspiring journalists have come from Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Syria and United Arab Emirates -- countries where Danny worked. This year both fellows come from Pakistan. In addition to the newspaper exchange program, Daniel Pearl IJE fellows spend time visiting Jewish publications in an effort to promote cross-cultural understanding and communications. ... Another annual project of the Daniel Pearl Foundation is the Music Days. This event uses music to spread friendship and respect among people of all cultures. Last year over 500 concerts in 42 countries participated. ... Please support the Daniel Pearl World Music Days by contacting musicians and music venues in your country and asking them to add a dedication to their next performance and register the event on www.danielpearlmusicdays.org."
