We're delighted to announce that Michael Shear will be joining the National staff at the end of the legislative session in Richmond.

An energetic politics junkie schooled in the fine tradition of elections as played out Virginia-style, Mike will bring enthusiasm and expertise to our 2008 presidential campaign. Over the years he has defined Virginia politics for the paper and we expect him to play a key role in the ensemble cast we are building for the campaign already underway. As a side benefit, we imagine National's tech-savvy and computer literacy will make a quantum leap forward with Mike's help.
