A Polite but Impersonal Goodbye

In a goodbye letter likely to burn the least number of bridges possible to mankind, The Hill‘s Michael O’Brien bids farewell to the publication where he has worked for three and a quarter years.

He gives an “extra-special” shout-out to his Twitter followers. Maybe he’s saving the more personal notes for private emails.

We wish him the best at MSNBC.com, where he will be politics editor.

See the note…

Friends and colleagues —

As some of you may have heard by now, yesterday was my last day at The Hill. After three and a quarter years, I’m leaving to start a new job with MSNBC.com as a politics editor, where I’ll be helping write, edit, and produce stories for the website. I’ll be remaining in Washington, D.C., and I’m thrilled to join the team over on Nebraska Avenue.

Please add my tentative new email address, BLANK, to your email lists and address books. It is not active yet, but I won’t be checking this email anymore. A new phone number and Twitter handle are forthcoming.

On a personal note, it’s been a pleasure to work with so many of you, and I’m looking forward to continuing to do so. I’d like to give extra-special thanks for so many of you who follow me on Twitter, despite its frequent references to Michigan football (beat the Irish), music, and Detroit sports teams.

Thanks,

Mike
