Applebaum Leaving Post

applebaum3.jpgWashington Post columnist and editorial writer Anne Applebaum will soon be leaving the Washington Post, we learn today. We hear that it is largely due to her husband having taken a new job in a different city.

Many will be sad to see Applebaum go. Her take on events frequently brought a fresh perspective to the tired punditry and talking points. Most sad of all, however, is that Applebaum’s departure leaves the Post’s editorial/opinion pages virtually female-free. Ruth Marcus is the only female left on the Post’s editorial page and Ellen Goodman is the only other regular female columnist you’ll see an op-ed from on their opinion page.
