Atlantic Video Cuts Over 50% of Staff

Layoffs hit Atlantic Video (AV) this week. On Monday, AV President Ed Milligan laid off 34 of the company’s 63 employees.

FishbowlDC confirmed with Milligan who told us that “the cuts were spread across all departments.”

Noting that “NAB Show attendance is expected to plunge by 50% this year,” Milligan told FBDC “we’re no different than anyone else in this business.”

One of largest studios in the area, Atlantic Video produces ESPN’s Pardon the Interruption and Around the Horn.

The company’s official statement after the jump.

Atlantic Video Reorganizing To Emphasize Production Services

Atlantic Video announced today that it is reorganizing the company to focus on a more profitable line of production services and has reduced its staff size accordingly.

“Our reorganization allows us to control expenses and focus our efforts on supporting the production of the daily shows done from our studios,” said Ed Milligan, president of Atlantic Video. “We will continue to take advantage of our premier facility and technology platform to provide production and post production services supported by a cadre of talented staff and free lancers.”

AV continues to provide services to a range of clients like Discovery Health, Ernst & Young, XM Satellite Radio and Optum Health and is committed to continuing to align its unique facility and service offering with the needs of its customers. This company redesign allows Atlantic Video to streamline it’s service offering and focus on profitable categories of business.

“We have tailored our service and facility offering to be more in line with the market,” said Milligan. “We had a number of services and products that were under-utilized and expensive to maintain, these changes allow us to really key in on the needs and requirements of our clients and prospects.”

Atlantic Video’s production studios are ideally situated in the heart of Washington, DC, at 650 Massachusetts Avenue, NW. Working in the largest non-network studio in the mid-Atlantic region, the production team daily produces such nationally recognized programs as ESPN’s Pardon the Interruption and Around the Horn. Live remote broadcasts for events like the Counting Crows concert and both the Democratic and Republican presidential debates are just a few examples of our talent.
