Behn Ditches WaTimes

Sharon Behn is leaving the Washington Times, FishbowlDC has learned. Behn has been leading the paper’s Iraq coverage.

“That’s a big loss for us – she really worked her ass off and did a lot of original stuff,” said one staffer.

We hear that she’s had some problems with some of her colleagues, but no word on whether that was a primary cause for her departure. (Curiously: Management ain’t talking.)

>UPDATE: Management talks. Managing editor David Jones tells FishbowlDC:

Sharon was highly regarded here as a great reporter who did great enterprising work, put herself at considerable risk time after time for her stories and is admired by everyone here who worked with her. She left for personal reasons that we don’t feel it is appropriate for us to discuss. We wish her every success in whatever she chooses to do next.
