BREAKING: Post Cancelling Post Radio
First on FishbowlDC…
An inside source tells FishbowlDC that it’s official: the Bonneville International Corp. is killing off its poor-performing radio station, WTWP. An announcement will be made Friday…
>UPDATE (10:24P.M.): The Post writes up a piece on it (also noting that Bonneville will officially make the annoucement on Friday). “Washington Post Radio to Go Off the Air.” And they’re brutally honest:
Washington Post Radio, which brought the newspaper’s journalists to the local airwaves, will go off the air next month after failing to attract enough listeners and losing money during its 17-month existence.
Post Radio, which is broadcast regionwide on 107.7 FM and 1500 AM, was not able to draw even 1 percent of listeners during its first year.
>UPDATE: You’ll note that both Harry Jaffe and DCRTV had been hearing grumblings about a potential WTWP collapse…
