David Gregory Does Late Night

NBC’s Chief White House Correspondent David Gregory made an appearance last night on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. The rockstar-esque journalist chatted about his recent bout with his microphone cord during a Presidential press conference, as well as his apparent belief that President Bush finds him attractive.

He also managed to work his notorious (and, dare I say, fairly accurate) impression of President Bush into the interview a number of times.

There was a bit of an embarrassing moment when Conan brought attention to Gregory’s tendency to dance (quite enthusiastically, mind you) during the musical guests when he guest hosts the Today Show. The accompanying film clip really showcased Gregory’s Molly-Ringwald-in-Pretty-in-Pink moves. Way to move, David. You can certainly cut a rug.

Perhaps the most embarrassing moment, however, was when Gregory was spinning an anecdote about how the President once held a fundraiser at the same place of Gregory’s prom. The silence from the audience was deafining. But for a show best known for its non-sensical comedy, perhaps the subtle political humor was a little misplaced. Gregory might do better to save such material for his next appearance on Bill Maher’s show.
