Death or Digital: Time Mag Says Ten Newspapers Must Choose
Time Mag’s 24/7 Wall St. just released a list of the ten US dailies most likely to fold or migrate to Web-only publishing.
The properties were chosen based on the finances of their parent companies, the direct competition in their markets, and profit and loss.
Time says “based on this analysis, it is possible that eight of the fifty largest daily newspapers in the United States could cease publication in the next eighteen months.”
The list is as follows:
The Philly Daily News
The Minneapolis Star Tribune
The Miami Herald
The Detroit News
The Boston Globe
The San Francisco Chronicle
The Chicago Sun-Times
NY Daily News
The Fort Worth Star Telegram
The Cleveland Plain Dealer

Correction: I originally posted the Philly Inquirer. The correct paper is the Philadelphia Daily News. My apologies.
