Dear Politico, it’s 6:30 p.m. on a day when President Obama has admitted that the IRS has targeted members of the Tea Party. Do you know where Lauren French is?
You should, because she’s dominating the homepage of your site with the lead story and four other stories. Do you let her outside the newsroom? Does she eat and sleep? Has anyone checked her blood pressure lately?
French is a tax policy reporter for Politico Pro who writes Morning Tax.
It was Logan Dobson, a research analyst at The Tarrance Group, a Republican polling firm, who brought the onslaught of stories by French to our attention by way of Twitter. On Tuesday afternoon he wrote, “Currently leading POLITICO: IRS story by @laurennfrench (w/ @kelsey_snell). Beneath? 4 more stories by @laurennfrench. Give that gal a raise.”
Before Politico, French was an intern at Reuters covering national security and foreign policy. A Politico insider said French is well-liked in the newsroom and is a “hard worker, obviously.”
See the proof of French’s Tuesday. Coming in at a close second was breaking news reporter Kevin Cirilli with four stories on the homepage.
