Jane Fonda’s Shout-Out to MSNBC’s Chris Matthews

We would not have imagined MSNBC’s “Hardball” with Chris Matthews to be ideal workout music.

But so it is, for some. Deborah Solomon, who writes the weekly “Questions” column for the NYT Magazine, interviewed actress and fitness guru Jane Fonda for this past Sunday’s issue.

In the course of the interview, Solomon admitted that she works out to “Bardball.” She wrote, “I ride my exercise bike for 20 minutes while watching ‘Hardball.’”

Fonda gushed, “I love Chris Matthews. I mean, he’s tough, he goes at you, but I loved being interviewed by him.” Solomon replied dryly, “He doesn’t strike me as a big exerciser.” Fonda reasoned, “I don’t know. I didn’t look at his waistline. He was underneath the level of the table.”
