I’m pleased to announce that Julie Mason, who for the last eight years has covered national politics and the White House for the Houston Chronicle, is joining The Examiner as White House Correspondent.
Julie is a resourceful reporter, a graceful writer, and a generous colleague. She has wide experience not only in print, but also as a blogger and television commentator.
Before taking over the Chronicle’s White House beat in 2005, Julie worked as the newspaper’s national political correspondent based in the Washington bureau and covered John Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign.
She is also a political analyst for MSNBC has appeared on NBC’s Today Show and Nightly News, CNN, NPR, CBS, and Nightline.
She is a fast, quick-witted blogger who has written widely about what it’s like behind the scenes at the White House.
Julie joined the Chronicle in 1989 after three years at the Dallas Morning News. As a Texas-based reporter for the Chronicle she covered local and state politics and government, courts, the racing industry and the Texas State Legislature. She also hosted a political talk show on Houston radio.
In 1997, her coverage of local political issues was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.
