More On Gazette Layoffs

We’ve got more on the layoffs at The Gazette papers in Montgomery, Frederick and Prince George’s counties. Most of the cuts were middle management, we hear, and it will actually cease publication of one of its editions, Sykesville/Eldersburg (it was one of the company’s youngest and smallest papers). The final issue will be Thursday.
Because of the cuts and the elimination of the edition, reporters were shuffled to the Frederick office, but the Mount Airy office will remain open for now, without any news staff.
