Mother Jones’ Gilson Indelicately Ravages New Yorker Profile

The New Yorker’s profile of Sonic Youth’s illustrious, astronaut-like Kim Gordon by Alex Halberstadt (Salon, WaPo) seems to have landed like a carlessly tossed bag of wet cement for Mother Jones’ Senior Editor Dave Gilson. He took to Twitter last night to trash the piece, tweeting the “eye-roll inducingest similes and comparisons” — 18 of them — in ascending order as if he’d been interviewing for a job at Buzzfeed.

Among the lines that made Gilson cringe like a trifling entomophobe in a field of 17-year cicadas:

Who knows? Maybe Gordon did look a little like an astronaut to Halberstadt. But then:
