New Time, New Place, New Price

As previously reported on FishbowlDC, the 65th Annual Radio and TV Correspondents Association Dinner will be Thursday, June 4th. The dinner is unusually late this year and also at a new location- the Washington Convention Center.

In an email to members, RTCA chair Heather Dahl says, “We are excited about hosting the annual dinner at the Convention Center because it offers a fresh, modern and sophisticated atmosphere. The Convention Center’s handsome main ballroom will allow us greater opportunities to turn this first dinner for the new White House Administration and Congressional leaders into a spectacular, unforgettable event.”

But those aren’t the only changes- tickets to the 2009 dinner will increase in price from $140 to $210.

According to Dahl, even if the venue had not changed, ticket prices would still have been hiked. The dinner is not paid for by membership dues, but in the past has been supplemented by the previous year’s surplus, which just isn’t what it was in previous years.
