Local boy NPR earned five “Webby” awards (the “online Oscars”), which will be awarded during a June 12 ceremony in New York City. This is a sizable achievement, since no other broadcaster has won that many Webby’s before.
The awards were:
NPR.org for “Best Radio”
NPR.org’s “This I Believe” series section for “Best Religion and Spirituality Website”
The “People’s Voice” awards, voted by the public, awarded NPR three prizes: NPR Music for “Best Music”, NPR Podcasts for “Best Podcasts”, NPR.org’s section on the StoryCorps national oral history project for “Best Events.”
Washingtonpost.com also earned a “People’s Voice” Webby for newspapers.
