Off Track

Washington Post Sports Editor Emilio Garcia-Ruiz decided that, effective January 1, the print sports section would cease publishing daily horse-racing information from DC’s area tracks.

Poynter Institute’s Steve Klein makes an interesting point: In the announcement, Garcia-Ruiz directs readers to check out race results and entries at an off-site webpage–www.laurelpark.com. Why not just continue to post the results on washingtonpost.com’s “Horse Racing” page instead of losing web surfers?
