"I do think that the quality which makes a man want to write and be read is essentially a desire for self-exposure and is masochistic. Like one of those guys who has a compulsion to take his thing out and show it on the street." - James Jones

Moyer Leaves WPNI

FishbowlDC has learned that Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive Chief Operating Officer Jen Moyer is leaving her position. We've obtained her staff note, as well as Washington Post Company Vice President Chris Ma's note about Moyer, and they're after the jump.

(Cue the "I wonder if she's leaving because Marcus Brauchli now oversees the website" rumors...It is interesting to note that there's been some serious turmoil over on the other side of the river, with washingtonpost.com CEO Caroline Little leaving in April and now this...There are rumors about Jim Brady and how he'll react to the news of Brauchli's assumption of power at washingtonpost.com, but our money is on Brady staying.)

From Chris Ma:

    WPNI Friends and Colleagues,

As you will see from the accompanying message from Jen Moyer, Jen has decided to leave WPNI at summer's end. During her years at WPNI, first as CFO, and most recently as COO, she has been a key leader in the development of our web sites and our business, and she will be much missed, both for her talent and her unflappability and good nature when much too much around her required her attention.

Jen's departure date won't be until September 1st, and I will be in touch with all of you about transition arrangements in the meantime. For now, I hope you will all join with me in expressing our appreciation for what Jen has meant to WPNI and the Post and will wish her well in her coming adventures.

    Chris

From Jen Moyer:

    Dear Friends:

After almost 7 years here at WPNI, I am leaving on September 1st. Most immediately, I am very much looking forward to taking some time off and recharging, dedicating more time to the things I enjoy outside of the office, and of course spending more time with my family.

I can't possibly say enough positive things about my 10-and-a-half years at The Washington Post Company. The people and the products are the best. I have been extremely lucky to work for and with the smartest people in the industry, and I'm proud to have been a part of what WPNI accomplished while I was part of the team. I can't wait to see what you guys do next!

    All the best, jen.
