Saslow to National: It’s Official

We reported it earlier and the WaPo made it official this past Friday: Sports reporter Eli Saslow is going to National. The internal memo, obtained by FishbowlDC:

We’re thrilled to announce that Eli Saslow has become a national enterprise reporter. Starting as a sports intern in the summer of 2004, Eli has demonstrated a remarkable ability for finding stories and writing them in compelling and provocative ways. As a reporter covering high school sports in Anne Arundel County and later roaming the country and the world doing sports enterprise he brought to life all manner of characters and issues with some of the best writing in the paper.

His most recent achievement was the “Why We Compete” series, eight extraordinary stories from around the world that were as much about the human condition as about sports. We know that Eli will bring the same eye to writing about the nation in the throes of a presidential election as he did about bungee jumping, 100 mile foot races, and the old ba’ game.
