Tavis Smiley Back to Radio

tavissmiley.gifIn the department of better-late-than-never, the D.C. Examiner has word that Tavis Smiley will be returning to radio next month. The announcement evidently came nearly two weeks ago, but you know what they say about trees falling in the forest. Smiley, who you might remember from such hit NPR shows as “The Tavis Smiley Show,” jumped ship in December and blasted the network for failing to reach a “diverse” section of Americans. Now that he’s finished grandstanding, he’s signed up with Public Radio International, which is oh-so-much more diverse than NPR.

Beginning in late April, he will host the originally named “Tavis Smiley Show” on weekends for PRI and its 727 affiliates–two hours of a “a unique blend of news and newsmakers in expanded conversations, along with regular high-profile commentators.”
