The Examiner’s Crossword Cross-up
If you consider yourself a crossword aficionado — or maybe they just give you something to do on your lunch break — don’t think too hard on today’s puzzle in the Examiner. It’s just not going to work out. Apparently there was a slight mix up and the clues for today’s puzzle don’t seem to go with, well, the actual puzzle.
Things start getting most suspicious in the “down” column with clues like “Ms. Turner” (Tina?) and “North Star” (Polaris?) requiring five letters, as well as “Physiologist Pavlov” (Ivan?) requiring nine. Some clues don’t even exist, including, 21 down 25 down, 34 down, 37 down, 48 down and 54 down. There are also six clues that don’t have spaces on the puzzle.
Perhaps the saddest part of this mix-up is that there is likely some poor intern in the city spending his lunch break pulling his hair out trying to squeeze “Orion” (6 down) into four spaces.
