200-Bookstore Road Trip Ain’t Gonna Happen

Sad news from Jessica Stockton Bagnulo‘s Written Nerd blog: “Bookstore Tourism” advocate Larry Portzline has abandoned his plans for a nationwide indie bookstore tour. “He had lined up media, made a massive itinerary of indie bookstores across the country, and had appealed to the ABA and the regional associations and other organizations in publishing to help fund the tour,” Bagnulo reports. “Apparently, no one stepped up.” As she writes, Portzline has not only pulled the plug on the project, he’s also taken down the website he developed to promote it, including a blog which offered thoughtful commentary on the bookselling world.
