Alloy Entertainment opened its doors to new authors yesterday, hoping to accept twelve manuscripts from authors over the next year. While the company usually creates blockbuster books like Gossip Girl and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants in-house, they are now looking for outside manuscripts.

According to Publishers Weekly, Alloy executive vice-president Josh Bank will helm the project, looking mainly for "women's fiction, young adult, middle grade, and chapter books." Agents are encouraged for manuscripts, but the company will have guidelines for independent authors.

Here's more on the pay-scale: "Alloy will pay low five-figure advances against publishing royalties, a departure from its usual model in which writers receive a revenue split. Writers will still receive a split after the advance is earned back."
