One of the very first stories we covered when senior editor Ron Hogan came to GalleyCat three years ago was the plans to make a movie of Adam Resurrected, a novel by Israeli author Yoriam Kaniuk about, as we described it back then, "a former circus clown who spent his time in the concentration camps trying to bring a smile to his fellow Jews as they made their way to the gas chamber," and wound up in an insane asylum after the war. Well, it turns out the movie got made, and according to our friends at FishbowlLA, the producer thinks Jeff Goldblum should be up for an Academy Award for his performance as the clown. So even though the film hasn't gotten wide release yet, it's screening in Los Angeles in order to secure eligibility for next year's Oscars.
The movie, directed by Paul Schrader, also stars Derek Jacobi and WIllem Dafoe.
