Also Scene @ Ames v. Davidson

Sure, I’m disappointed that I couldn’t be there along with Sarah at the Jonathan Ames/Craig Davidson fight last night, an exhibition match to promote the American publication of Davidson’s novel, but at least there’s the online recaps. It’s too bad that the eyewitness from Vulture couldn’t get a clear shot of the boxers’ faces, but then a brand new blog called Slunch seems to have found the scoop of the evening anyway, snapping a picture of Fiona Apple tagging along with Ames. (Gawker got a better picture, but it took them longer to put it online.)

I’m not quite sure what to make of Slunch yet—it’s hard to tell just how serious they are about being nostalgic for the golden age of publishing “when editorial assistants would get together once a week, order delivery for lunch and go through the piles of slush manuscripts and gossip about who made out in the copy room, and spread salacious rumours about coworkers, authors, and agents,” but it sounds more like they’re cutting into Gawker‘s territory than ours, so to heck with it: Welcome!
