Are You Ready for the Year of the Ox?

chinese-new-year-icon.jpgIf you’re in New York City and you don’t have any plans for the Chinese New Year this coming Sunday night, you might want to buy a ticket to the Asian American Writers’ Workshop Lunar New Year Countdown party, which is also an opportunity for them to show off their recently renovated headquarters. $10 gets you free Singha beer and dumpling and three hours’ worth of reading by some of the area’s most prominent Asian American writers, including Ed Park, Wendy Lee, and Rigoberto Gonzalez. (And they’re still filling the schedule with readers, so check in with them if you’re interested!) “Think of this less like a reading than a big old-fashioned party,” their invite advises. “Just drop in when it works for you.” But not until the party actually starts at 9 p.m., of course.
