Allan Chappelow was once known for his books on the noted playwright George Bernard Shaw and the 1955 novel RUSSIAN HOLIDAY. But sadly, he's in the news for entirely different reasons, as the BBC reports that the reclusive millionaire author likely died of head injuries last week - and that the murder may have been due to identity theft.

It was said bank officials tipped off police after becoming concerned that Mr Chappelow had lost money through a series of bogus transactions. He is believed to have reported the theft of some of his post to police early last month after returning from a trip to America. And in the days leading up to the discovery of his body, £10,000 is reported to have been transferred out of one of Mr Chappelow's bank accounts by a man claiming to be him.

Inquiries are continuing in and around Chappellow's Hampstead, North London home.
