TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE, believe it or not, was not that annoying when it was published. But then it became big. Really, really big, and Mitch Albom (who was better known for being the Freep's sportswriter of note, a position he still holds) followed it up with THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN, or as my friends like to refer to it, THE ONE BOOK YOU MEET IN HELL. And I believe that book is still on bestseller lists - or if not, it just feels like it is.
And because all those millions of people have been clamoring for another book from Albom, well, now they'll get it, according to Publishers Marketplace. Evidently, Mitch Albom finished the manuscript for his new book FOR ONE MORE DAY just a few weeks ago, and he'll be at BEA on Friday afternoon at 3 to read from the the book (which Hyperion will publish on September 26.)
The new is described as "exploring the themes of family, divorce and regrets, and the wish that we could have one more day with a lost loved one. He also writes about the unique and sometimes difficult relationship between mothers and sons, following the story of a boy who was forced to choose his father over his mother, only to see his father abruptly disappear a few years later."
I hear those violins way, way up close...
