Vice Debaters: Shut Up Now, ThanksAnother week, another round of angry letters to the NY Press about Robert Clark Young's hate-on for Brad Vice. This week, short story writer Tim Parrish accuses Young of "libel per se" in reference to Young's allegations about the hardcover edition of Parrish's Red Stick Men, and Young says oh no I didn't, and then Richard Bausch returns for another round of condescension towards Young so profound he consistently calls him "Clark," dubs him "someone with a private agenda who is spiralling out of the range of any reasonable discourse or response," then reminds the editors that he really doesn't have time for this nonsense because he's got to copyedit the galleys on his forthcoming novel. And of course Young has some snappy comebacks for that, too. But you know what? It's officially grown tiresome. Somebody pass me a note when Mississippi State decides what it wants to do about Brad Vice, or if some other small press decides to pick up his short stories, but until then? I don't want to hear another word on the subject. I'll just hang onto my copy of The Bear Bryant Funeral Train and wait for Vice's inevitable comeback. Email This Post |
