Shellie Braeuner (left), a Nashville-based nanny and former child counselor, has been selected as the winner of the Cheerios Spoonfuls of Stories Children's Book Contest, conducted in association with First Book and Simon & Schuster. The Great Dog Wash, a story she conceived while walking her employer's family dog, Fluffy, was reviewed by the S&S kid's editorial team after winning the $5,000 contest; it has since been selected for publication, with Robert Neubecker tapped to provide the illustrations. A paperback edition will be distributed in Cheerios boxes next spring, followed by a hardcover distributed to bookstores a few months later.
