While the Pulitzers understandably cast a long shadow over the literary awards landscape, it's worth noting the announcement of this year's Dorset Prize from Tupelo Press, America's largest cash prize for an unpublished poetry collection. The award, which also includes publication by Tupelo next year, goes to Davis McComb's Dismal Rock. McComb hasn't exactly been plucked from obscurity, though: His first collection, Ultima Thule, won the Yale Younger Poets prize and became an NBCC finalist.
