Sana Krasikov Receives $100,000 Award
Last night the Jewish Book Council awarded Sana Krasikov the 2009 Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature. During the gala ceremony at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Manhattan, Krasikov accepted the $100,000 award for her debut short story collection, "One More Year." GalleyCat received this photo from the presentation, featuring: the author's parents, Sophia Krasikov and Jacob Krasikov, the author, and George Rohr. The prize was founded in 2006, to celebrate Rohr's 80th birthday, as the release explained: "his children and grandchildren inaugurated the Sami Rohr Prize to honor his lifelong love of Jewish literature." Earlier this year, GalleyCat caught up with Krasikov at the NY Public Library Young Lions Award ceremony for a video interview, getting her thoughts on the publishing meltdown and her upcoming work.
