I couldn't quite believe it when I saw the Publishers Marketplace deal roundup the other day and stumbled onto this item:
"NYT bestselling author Joel C. Rosenberg's FUTURE SHOCK: 10 Coming Headlines That Will Change The World, his first book of non-fiction, which will explain the enormous political, economic, and spiritual changes that are underway in the world's most important countries, why these changes are happening, what they mean, and how they will affect our lives as Americans, to Ron Beers at Tyndale, in a very good deal, by Scott Miller at Trident Media Group."
Since Future Shock is probably one of the most recognized nonfiction titles of the last half-century, I was surprised Rosenberg was using it, especially in a context that sounds so similar to Alvin Toffler's original. (Or, as nearly everyone I mentioned the deal to replied, "He is not calling it that!?!") So I shot off a quick e-mail to Rosenberg, hoping to learn more—but since he's already off to the Middle East for three months researching his next book, his agent politely explained that they'd rather wait until closer to the March 2007 pub date to talk about this one. Fair enough; if it still has the same title then, my curiosity will be just as piqued...
