Black Lace and Nexus Erotica Titles Postponed in 2010

bln.gifTomorrow Virgin Books will release a statement about their decision not to add books in the Black Lace and Nexus erotica imprints in 2010, GalleyCat has learned.

This morning Bookseller reported that Virgin Books had decided they will not release new titles for these imprints next year–sparking worried comments from erotica readers and writers. Nevertheless, leadership stressed that both lines will still be “active.”

GalleyCat followed up, and a spokesperson said a statement will be released tomorrow morning. In the article, Virgin Books’ managing director, John Sadler had this brief quote: “As part of our strategic planning for 2010 we will be prioritising our rapidly growing non-fiction list and as such have decided not to add to our erotica list for that year.”
