A British newspaper investigated an Amazon.com book warehouse in Bedfordshire, England, uncovering a number of tough rules for employees--including sick day penalties, required overnight shifts, and "ridiculous" packing schedules.

A Sunday Times reporter went uncover at the sprawling shipping center, working a week as a temporary employee during the retailer's holiday boom. According to the article, they walked up to 14 miles in a single shift.
