Career Opportunities: Kid Lit Exec Editor

The folks at the home base recently gave us a great idea for new posts, which we’ll be trying out on an occasional basis—spotlighting some of the publishing industry openings that get posted to mediabistro.com’s extensive database of job listings.

To start things off, Little, Brown is looking for an executive editor to take charge in its Books for Young Readers division. You’d be overseeing commercial and literary fiction and nonfiction for middle grade and YA readers and, through the house’s Poppy imprint, handling fiction series aimed at teenage girls. They’re hoping to find somebody with proven experience picking titles that can stand out in the paperback market, and if you’ve worked on media tie-ins, even better…which is no doubt why they’re asking for someone who’s been in the business for at least seven years.
