Crowdsourcing the Book Cover

1gregmatson.jpgEarlier this year, Penguin challenged 300 illustrators, designers, photographers, and painters to create a book cover for Sam Taylor ‘s new novel, The Island at the End of the World.

The editors whittled down the entries into 25 beautiful finalists, and the winner will be announced at the annual Hearts & Minds celebration this evening. The winning entry will be featured on the cover of Taylor ‘s 2009 novel, his follow-up to The Amnesiac.

Go explore the finalists’ work, including that gorgeous cover up top–there are enough good ideas to float a hundred book covers.
