Flower Confidential Author Buys Used Bookshop

Amy Stewart, the author of Flower Confidential, has bought an antiquarian bookstore in Eureka, California, with her husband after learning that the previous owners were ready to retire after 20 years in the business. “The store was either going to be closed or sold,” she writes on her blog. “Scott has loved this store for a long time and bought many treasures for his own collection there.” On his own blog for Fine Books & Collections, Scott has additional details about the store and its staff.

“Yesterday was our first day as the store’s new owners, and I am still getting my mind around the fact that all these books belong to me,” Stewart wrote in an email announcing the purchse. “It’s probably not a good idea for me to work behind the desk just yet; I’m not sure I will be able to let anything walk out of the store until I’ve read it. That could slow sales down considerably.”
