Folio Lit officially open for business

mblogo.jpgWell actually, the agency that combined the talents of Scott Hoffman, Jeff Kleinman and Paige Wheeler opened its doors on February 1 (after Galleycat broke the news of its formation) but no doubt the submissions will grow after Hoffman’s interview yesterday with MB’s Aileen Gallagher. Hoffman doesn’t talk much about their newest deals — though several have been inked just recently — but does go into detail about Folio’s mission to be a full-service literary management agency, with PR included. Will publishers respond well to an in-house PR team? “The discussions we’ve had with big houses have been overwhelmingly positive,” Hoffman says. “The editors in particular like it, because they know that, effectively, we’re all on the same team and we’re all working towards a common goal. The people that we’re working with are professional enough and good enough. And we coordinate everything we do with the publishing houses’ PR and marketing departments so that nobody is stepping on anybody’s toes. What we’re doing is, we’re giving our authors that toolkit to do what they need to do to complement publishers’ efforts.”
