Graphic Novelist Miriam Engelberg, 1958-2006

After the recent hoopla for Cancer Vixen, a sad reminder that there was another graphic memoir by a woman coping with breast cancer published at the beginning of 2006, as Miriam Engelberg (right), the author of Cancer Made Me a Shallower Person, died earlier this week, as the cancer she wrote about in her book had continued to spread even after initial success with chemotherapy.

I know we don’t usually do this sort of thing, but one of my first reactions to this news was to encourage contributions to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
