The Nobel Prize for Literature goes to recent birthday boy (75 last Monday!) Harold Pinter (left), not a bad Yom Kippur present for the son of immigrant Jewish parents. (As the Guardian notes, his decision to pursue writing was shaped in response to the anti-semitism he faced in youth.)
