HBO Orders Pilot for George R.R. Martin’s Fantasy Novel Series

a-game-of-thrones.jpgGeorge R.R. Martin’s bestselling Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series might be headed to HBO soon. The broadcast company greenlighted a pilot of the series, one of 10 HBO pilots currently up for consideration.

Tor reports that the series might have an innovative release schedule, focusing on an individual book each season. According to The Live Feed, that could potentially mean seven years worth of epic fantasy television if Martin meets his projections of seven novels for the series.

On his blog entitled Not a Blog, Martin gave an insider’s view of the project, generating eight pages of comments in the process. Check it out: “David Benioff and Dan Weiss did a terrific job with the script. And yes, all of you can relax, it’s very faithful. Dan and David will be the executive producers for the pilot and (we hope) the eventual series.”
